11/24/2023 0 Comments Corel painter 5There's also enhanced compatibility with Corel's Paint Shop Pro and Photo Album programs, and two discs of video training from. Both of these already existed (and continue to exist) as brush categories, but they're also now tools conveniently located in the toolbox. There's also now an Eraser and a Cloner brush. New additions in the toolbox include a Photoshop-style Rubber Stamp, which is quite useful. It's not a bad addition, it's just not a big plus for the typical Painter user. Outside of a few additional stroke variations, Painter IX.5 brings nothing new to this feature. If you're serious enough about digital painting to own Painter, you'll want to transform your photos by hand using Painter's old manual tools. To be honest, I think that's where this largely automated feature belongs, in a lower-end app aimed at consumers. These palettes actually debuted last year in Painter Essentials 3 (Corel's $79 "lite" version of Painter). The main new feature of version IX.5 is the Photo Painting Palettes, which aim to simplify the photo-to-painting conversion. Painter's cloner tools have long let you turn photographs into paintings. But even Wacom's less-expensive Graphire pen tablet matches Painter's visual verisimilitude with a satisfyingly realistic feel. Together, Corel and Wacom aim to recreate precisely the way brushes respond to the subtle touch of the artist's hand. Painter IX.5 has special brushes designed to be used in conjunction with Wacom's 6D Art Pen, a stylus that works on the Intuos3 tablet and adds more flexibility for pen rotation. It's been a few years since I tried oil painting, but I feel that Painter mimics the real-world experience quite impressively (and with no messy cleanup).ĭon't even think about using this program without a pen tablet. Drag a red stroke through an existing blue one, and the brush smears purple until it runs out of paint. Most impressive of all are the Artists' Oils, brushes that replicate the appearance and interaction of oily strokes on canvas. Each category has numerous specific brushes to choose from, and when you start painting, the results can be astonishingly realistic. Then you choose your weapon from among 34 "brush" categories, including Oils, Pencils, Watercolor, Chalk, and Charcoal. In Painter, you can begin by customizing your blank canvas so that the texture of a specific paper or surface is embedded in the document. And for newcomers, there's plenty to admire in this venerable app. 5 upgrade doesn't add a huge amount, but it's a good free download for registered Painter IX users. Corel's professional-level digital painting application remains the ultimate program for simulating real-world media creation on the computer. The ungainly mix of Roman and Arabic numerals notwithstanding, I love Painter IX.5. Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security Software.
